Learn More About Me
Certified through the John Maxwell Team, I've been successful in coaching teens and adults to live their best lives. So many of us feel stuck: my job is to teach you how you can tap into your own power to get unstuck. Further, as a teacher of 10 years and someone who has treated anxiety and depression, I've seen so many students feel lost in their own mental health issues. I love being able to empower them from a personal and professional experience!
Support That Makes a Difference
Mental Health First Aid for Youth
This training teaches adults ages 25 and above how to work with youth (ages 10-24) experience issues with suicidality, addiction, or mental illness. Its purpose is to show that all laypeople can help a youth in crisis and get them to professional help more quickly. It goes into detail about signs and symptoms of common mental health disorders in youth, the stigmas associated with having a mental illness, and helping our youth feel acknowledged and that they can trust us even in difficult situations. This essential training has seen a significant decrease in suicidality in populations with trainers, and a significant increase in youth accessing mental health services. This 8-hour training provides a Mental Health First Aid certificate of 3 years. There is a minimum of five individuals and a maximum of 35 for this training.
Question, Persuade, Refer
This 2-hour training encompasses a generalized overview of specifically suicidal ideation or suicide plans. It teaches individuals ages 10 and higher to look for suicidality and to directly ask an individual if they are thinking of suicide. It then teaches them how to persuade them to make a choice to live in an empathetic manner, and especially, teaches them how to refer to professionals. This is an excellent training for a younger age group because many youth who know they have suicidal friends are afraid to reach out to adults because they worry their friends will not like them anymore, or that they won't be taken seriously by the adult. Therefore, QPR addresses those concerns with youth, giving them time to role play and practice working with their peers. There is a minimum of five people for this training and a maximum of 60. This training provides a QPR certificate of 3 years.
Five Long Languages
This training offers individuals the ability to build better empathy and communication skills with loved ones, romantic partners, family, friends, and coworkers. The biggest breakdown in all relationships is lack of effective communication: the five love languages training will teach you how to empathize, listen, and provide the support your loved one needs to feel safe and trustworthy with you.
Teen Empowerment and Yoga
This series allows teens and tweens (ages 10-15) to build their skill base in: self confidence, empathy, mindfulness, resiliency, service, and gratitude while teaching yoga as the culmination of each session. Attendance at all sessions is not required.

Compassion in the Workplace was such a beneficial workshop to attend. Ms. Dorrell taught us the Five Love Languages and how they can apply to your coworkers and how you interact with others. The best part...this workshop WILL help you analyze and strength your personal relationships too.
Mandi Dorrell is an invaluable leader and speaker-her actions and her work speak to positivity and good energy. I was thrilled that my child was able to be in her presence for teen mindfulness camp!
Mental Health First Aid training with Mandi was both timely and exactly what our JCC needed. We know with her resources we can bring our young leaders exactly what they need to thrive. Thank you, Mandi!
As a clinical psychologist I've attended at least six other suicide prevention trainings. Mandi's was the only one I found to be effective. She keeps it real, is a born trainer, and is literally the most talented speaker I have ever met.
